Championship star Matt Grimes is keen to join Everton in the summer, according to Football Insider, after the Toffees made an official approach to the midfielder’s camp.

Grimes has supposedly been identified by us as a player with great potential, but as someone who is capable of making the jump up from the second-tier to instantly compete for a place in a Premier League side.

Swansea, for their part, are thought to value the 23-year-old around the £10million mark after he made 47 appearances in all competitions following their relegation and was named the club’s Player of the Season, ahead of Manchester United target Daniel James.

Speedy winger James is still thought to be a target of Everton, too, and club chiefs are hopeful of completing a double swoop on the Welsh outfit as talks between the Jacks and the Red Devils have not been finalised yet.

It’s thought that the promise of more regular football on Merseyside could help our cause, as it would, in turn, help James’ development far more than going from a first-team regular at the Liberty Stadium to a reserve option at Old Trafford.

James would cost more than his elder teammate, though, as the Evening Standard understand United are hoping a deal can be reached for a fee between £15m and £20million including add-ons.

Like with Grimes, Football Insider claim James’ camp have also been reached out to by Everton officials, but they do not state whether our interest was received positively or not.
