Everton enter the Carabao Cup tomorrow night aware that the prize for winning the competition has changed.

The club lifting the EFL Cup trophy will no longer qualify for the Europa League but the UEFA Europa Conference League - a new third tier of club competition coming into force next summer.

Each of the Champions League, Europa League and the new Europa Conference League will consist of 32 teams from next season.

Winners of the Carabao Cup will pocket £100,000 and a share of the gate-receipts.

Second and third round tie details Everton welcome League Two side Salford City to Goodison tomorrow night for a second round tie, with kick-off at 8:15.

Tomorrow night, Everton will be in line to take 45% of all proceeds from the match.

And where, in recent seasons, a seventh placed finish in the Premier League has earned teams - including Everton in 2016-17 - a place in the Europa League based on the cup winners having qualified for Europe through their league position, this time it would mean a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs.
