It was the latest transfer that continued a trend of free agents striking big-money deals.

Juventus, after what felt like a lengthy wait, finally confirmed Aaaron Ramsey would be their latest recruit on Monday, with the Arsenal midfielder agreeing terms to move to Turin in the summer.

Juventus themselves took advantage of such a trend last summer when they snared German international midfielder Emre Can from Liverpool without having to pay a fee.

"Everton have agreed a fee with Cardiff for Aaron Ramsey ," Everton stated at the time.

"I was very close to signing Aaron at Everton," Moyes said November 2013.

Ramsey's best season would undoubtedly come in the 2013/14 season where he shone for the Gunners in midfield by netting 16 goals in all competitions, which included an extra-time winner in the FA Cup final.

Respected Italian journalist Gabriele Marcotti tweeted his understanding that Ramsey's weekly wages are closer to £250,000, but it's still a remarkable sum for the Arsenal man to pocket every seven days, wherever the truth lands.
