Next month's Bradley Lowery charity match at Goodison Park will help raise funds for a holiday home for sick children after the scheme was approved by Scarborough Borough Council.

The celebrity match is being staged on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, in memory of Sunderland supporter Bradley, whose courage and optimism after his diagnosis with rare childhood cancer neuroblastoma touched the nation.

The People's Place XI, captained by former world champion boxer Tony Bellew, will take on Bradley's Boys, who will be skippered by Eastenders actor Danny Dyer. The match will kick-off at 3pm.

The North Yorkshire holiday home will be built by the Bradley Lowery Foundation, having received planning permission for the project last week. The celebrity charity match will also generate funds for The People's Place, Everton in the Community’s campaign to deliver a purpose-built mental health facility in the shadows of Goodison.

Bradley's parents Gemma and Carl launched the Bradley Lowery Foundation in August 2017, one month after Bradley passed away aged six.

Gemma said: "Scarborough was one of Bradley's favourite places. Building this home there so that children and their families can enjoy quality time together would have made him very proud."

A special bond was forged between Everton, the Club's fans and Bradley after the youngster was Sunderland's mascot for the Blues' visit to the Stadium of Light in September 2016. As a result, Bradley was a special guest at Goodison for two matches in 2017.

The first Bradley Lowery Charity match was staged at The Grand Old Lady in September 2017, attracting a crowd of more than 13,000 and raising tens of thousands of pounds for the Bradley Lowery Foundation and Everton in the Community.

Television personalities Calum Best, Shayne Ward and Jake Wood will all feature in the upcoming game - as will a series of former Everton professionals including Lee Carsley, James McFadden and Leon Osman. More Everton legends and celebrity names will be announced in the next fortnight.

Arranged in conjunction with the Lowery family, and with the assistance of Sellebrity Soccer, tickets for the charity game are on sale here priced at just £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s.
