Carlo Ancelotti has told Moise Kean to be ready to take his chance before the end of the season - as he declares: "next season for him will be better".

The £25m signing from Juventus has made 19 appearances from the bench in the Premier League this term, starting only five times, and he is expected to begin on the bench against Leicester City this evening.

Kean has endured a difficult first season in England with off-field incidents complicating his start to life at Everton.

Ancelotti spoke to Kean after the 20-year-old broke lockdown rules by holding a party at his home and reminded him of his responsibilities.

And the Everton boss believes the player will be much stronger next term.

“Moise is part of the team, part of they squad," he said.

"He didn’t play a lot this season, but you have to consider the competition among the front players in our squad is really high because we have fantastic strikers.

“What I say to everyone who does not play, they have to stay focused, be ready because the opportunity comes.”

“I think it’s important to consider he has come to a new country and second, you have to consider he is only young and so maybe he needs more time to adapt," Ancelotti added.

“Third is for most of the players it was difficult to get through this period because they were alone at home, so we have to take all this into consideration and next season for him will be better.”

Everton were appalled to learn that Kean had broken lockdown rules in April and are understood to have fined him.

Ancelotti says all members of the squad are clear about what is expected of them.

“I have spoken with him, I have spoken with everyone about how important their behaviour is on the pitch and outside the pitch," the Everton manager added.

“He knows how to behave and everyone knows how they have to behave and everyone knows what I expect from them.”
