Di Canio blasts Ancelotti’s managerial record

Paolo Di Canio has launched a bizarre attack on Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti’s managerial qualities, stating that the only reason he has been successful has been because he’s been at big clubs.

Everton’s appointment of Ancelotti in December was seen as a huge coup given his track record in management, but Di Canio believes that his compatriot has simply found his natural level after his spell with Napoli ended in acrimony.

“He has found his level (at Everton),” Di Canio said in Il Mattino, cited by Forza Italian Football. “He is among the best in the management of great champions who play at big clubs.

“He has won where they win regardless of who the coach is; at Real Madrid where many have won, at Paris Saint-Germain, and at Bayern Munich.

“Instead at Napoli, it did not go like this. In the first year, he took advantage of the mechanisms Maurizio Sarri had left him, he had to put his own ones in during the second, and the results are there to see, with a limited budget.”

Hummel remain tight-lipped on kit release

Danish sportswear brand hummel are keeping tight-lipped over when their Everton kit will be released after being inundated with requests for information by fans on social media.

It was announced in May that hummel would take over from Umbro as Everton’s kit supplier from the 2020/21 season with the brand paying between £8-10million per season.

Supporters have been desperate to find out more about how next season’s kit will look but Hummel are yet to release any details.

When asked when the kit would be released by one fan on Twitter, Hummel replied : “All we can tell is that the kit will be launched in... 2020.”

Barcelona offer Todibo to Toffees

Everton have conducted plenty of transfer business with Barcelona over the past couple of seasons with Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina all making the move to Merseyside.

Must-read Everton FC news

According to Il Mattino (via Sport Witness) Barcelona are hoping to offload another player to Everton in the form of French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo for a fee of €25m.

Todibo was sent out on loan to Schalke 04 during the January transfer window but Barcelona are hoping to get rid of him permanently to raise additional transfer funds.

Reportedly, Barcelona are hoping to use Everton to drive up interest in Todibo with Napoli, Sevilla, Watford, Southampton and FC Koln all rumoured to be monitoring him.

Whether Everton would be interested in Todibo is debatable given the form of Mason Holgate and Michael Keane since Ancelotti’s arrival.
