Everton will have a weekend off from Premier League action after the planned fixture against Aston Villa was postponed.

Fans have quickly identified a potential benefit of the postponement of the clash against Villa, with Carlo Ancelotti potentially being able to welcome some players who are currently injured back to selection by the time the clash with the Foxes rolls around.

Calvert-Lewin missed the midweek clash with Wolves due to a hamstring injury and was questionable for the proposed fixture against Villa.

The Midlands club have suffered from a coronavirus outbreak, which saw a squad of youngsters face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round last Friday.

Everton are not in Premier League action again until the 27th January, a midweek hosting of Leicester City, which allows time to recuperate during a hectic fixture schedule.

As a result, Everton are now likely to have nine days until their next fixture, against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

Villa's midweek fixture with Tottenham was postponed, with Jose Mourinho's side facing Fulham instead, and Dean Smith's side are unable to fulfil this weekend's game.
