Everton and Bournemouth fans paid tribute to Blues fan Billy Livesley, who died from a serious head injury.

The club tweeted:  "A brilliant round of applause from the sell-out Goodison crowd to remember Billy Livesley, who tragically passed away recently aged 21.

"He's supported Everton since he was a kid.

Billy, 21, from Platt Bridge, Wigan, was found seriously injured outside a house on Bickershaw Lane in Abram, Wigan, on December 28.

Described by his step-mum as an "incredibly popular boy", Jamie said: "It would be so special to have this minute's applause for him and for his brothers and friends to hear it."

At today's home game at Goodison against Bournemouth, Billy's image appeared on a big screen, and tens of thousands of fans made a round of applause for the 21st minute of the match.

One of his brothers, Josh Livesley, told the ECHO Billy's loved ones will be at Goodison for the Bournemouth game and that hearing the stadium filled with applause would mean the world to the family.
