Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has told Cenk Tosun that the door is always open for him at the Super Lig outfit.

According to Fotomac (via Sport Witness), Cebi has been in ‘constant contact’ with the Everton forward and has told him that a move back to Besiktas would be ‘welcomed with open arms’.

Tosun spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Turkish side before joining the Blues in January 2018 (via Sky Sports). Everton signed the 28-year-old for £27m but it seems the cash spent has not been reflected in the striker’s performances. The frontman has scored just 10 goals for the Merseysiders in 51 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

Yes No

In a recent Instagram post, Tosun uploaded a snap of him alongside the Everton crest with the caption ‘Loading…’ which has hinted at a potential return to action once he is back to full fitness. The Turkey international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury whilst on loan with Crystal Palace earlier this year. Tosun has returned to his parent club to recover but whether a future lies ahead of him at Goodison Park afterwards is another story.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been firing on all cylinders this season, bagging himself 13 league goals. Teammate Richarlison has also impressed in front of goal, registering 10 goals and three assists. Carlo Ancelotti won’t want to tamper with the prolific duo up front, thus leaving no room for Tosun in the starting lineup.

Cebi saying that the door is always open for the former Besiktas man is a lifeline for Tosun that he should take this summer. Everton is a team in transition at the moment and many are waiting with bated breath to see Ancelotti’s business in the upcoming window.

The likelihood is that the striker will fall further down the pecking order at Goodison Park but a move to Besiktas could see him star as the focal point of their team.
