Everton will send a scout to the tournament which catapulted the career of Richarlison.

Richarlison scored twice in the 2017 tournament in Ecuador and impressed despite Brazil only finishing fifth and therefore failing to qualify for the u-20s World Cup that summer.

The Hornets signed Richarlison from Fluminense for £11.5m in the summer of 2017 before his £35m switch to Everton in July of last year.

The hosts are joined by Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela and Bolivia in Group A with defending champions Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru in Group B.

This year's tournament runs from January 17-February 10 and games will be played across three venues in Chile.

The Blues are to be present at the South American under-20 Championships which begin in Chile this week.

It is understood that director of football Marcel Brands is sending u-23s talent spotter Jamie Hoyland to watch matches in the 10-team competition.
