Everton fought hard to be given a full allocation of away tickets for their FA Cup fourth round tie at Millwall.

FA Cup ties allow for visiting club to receive a 15% allocation but Everton's share for the tie amounts to only 12.5% of the 17,800 capacity.

But The Met Police and Safety Advisory Group have only allowed the Blues 2,200 seats at The Den on January 26.

The late kick-off time of 5:30pm has not influenced the decision to hand Everton a reduced allocation, it is understood.

Everton will remain in dialogue with the authorities in the build-up to the tie and the club plan to issue further information and advice to the 2,200 fans making the trip to London.

In discussions led by the club's head of security Dave Lewis, the Blues pushed for a full away allocation but The Met and SAG would not budge.

Away fans are usually placed in Millwall's North Stand and the ECHO has learnt that the club typically closes the lower tier for high profile games, citing safety concerns as the reason.
