Everton legend Colin Harvey has opened up on the decision to sell Gary Lineker to Barcelona after the former Blues striker took to social media to praise the club.

Lineker spent just one season with Everton before moving to Barcelona, and club legend Harvey believes the offer from the Catalan giants was too good for his side to turn down.

He said: "He [Lineker] was quick and a great goal scorer, he kept his head in the penalty area and scored some great goals for us that season.

"It was such a good offer and the club felt they couldn't turn it down.

"He wore the same boots, they were a battered pair," Harvey added.

On Wednesday evening, the Match Of The Day host took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Howard's Way - the brilliant documentary made surrounding the club's most famous side.

He missed two or three really good chances and we lost the game 1-0.
