Here are the Everton morning headlines on Monday, June 29.

Man City linked with a move for Everton star

Manchester City are reportedly interested in trying to sign Everton defender Mason Holgate and could offer former Blues man John Stones as part of the deal.

That is according to Football Insider who report that Pep Guardiola’s side are believed to be keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old Everton defender.

Holgate’s recent contract extension sees him with a deal in place to stay at Goodison Park until 2025 which means that it will be unlikely to see Carlo Ancelotti’s side selling the defender in the near future.

However, the report also suggests that Stones could be included in part of a deal with City believed to be keen on selling the England international this summer as they aim to rebuild their defensive options.

Burnley prospect could be a perfect fit at Goodison Park

Dwight McNeil has earned himself widespread recognition for his creative abilities in Sean Dyche’s Burnley side over the last two seasons.

The left-sided midfielder has been a constant source of attacking flair and creativity at Turf Moor and Burnley may be willing to cash in on the highly-rated prospect amid continued uncertainty across football’s financial landscape.

As homegrown talent based in the North West, he ticks many boxes for Everton’s recruitment team but none more so than the potential partnership he could have with Lucas Digne on the left-hand side.

The French left-back has been one of Everton’s most prolific crossers this season and a combination with McNeil down the left could see them create a highly promising duo. When you consider the lack of creativity around McNeil at Burnley, moving to Everton could significantly increase his output with Digne, for example, making overlapping runs to contribute in the attacking third.

As Joe Donnohue writes, many clubs will be in for the Burnley man but there appear to be few better fits than a move to Goodison Park.

Former Everton defender looking to revive footballing career in Cyprus

In an exclusive interview with the ECHO, former Everton defender Liam Morris revealed that he is currently looking to revive his professional career in Cyprus.

The 21-year-old has been rejected twice by the Toffees as well as at Bolton Wanderers before playing at Anfield Sports Centre, some nine divisions below the Premier League.

However, the defender is now looking to kickstart his dream of playing professional football in Cyprus’ fourth tier of domestic football. Morris admitted that moving to Cyprus was a tough decision but one that he may look back on with regret in years to come if he hadn't taken it.

Morris said: "I got quite a few messages off agents but a lot of them aren't serious… they offer you things and want you to sign for them but you can't until they prove they can do something for you.

"Then someone messaged me who had started a new agency. I told him I was playing locally non-league and he asked me if I'd be interested in going abroad.

"I was a bit unsure at first because of the baby but my girlfriend said go for it. I'm only young, if it doesn't work out I can always come back and get a job again. If I don't go now I never will. I'll never get the chance to go again."
