Davy Klaassen says he has not regretted his move to Werder Bremen from Everton after an impressive start to life in Germany.

“No, I have no contact with the national coach, but I am closer to the Dutch team than last year,” the 25-year-old added.

“I am very happy here, I really enjoy it,” Klaassen said.

After regaining form and confidence in the Bundesliga, however, the press were quick to ask Klaassen whether now-Netherlands coach Koeman had sounded him out over a potential recall to the national team.

“I have not regretted my move from Everton to Werder Bremen for a second.” Klaassen was brought to Everton last summer by Ronald Koeman but found himself out of favour by the time the Dutch coach was sacked.

We have a great team and the Bundesliga is a fantastic competition.

Klaassen has been an important part of Bremen’s team since the move, making 21 appearances and registering four assists.
