As the gloomy winter afternoon took hold, Michael Keane's reformed character shined brightest at Goodison Park in Everton's 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

But while the good form is pleasing, the character shown by Keane during the narrow victory is what really caught the eye.

Kurt Zouma looks twice the player alongside Keane and the pair looked as though they'd been playing alongside each other for years at times during the win.

Keane struggled with form, confidence and injury during a testing first season under three different managers and there were times when it seemed he just didn't have the mental mettle to make it at a big club like Everton.

The jury was firmly out on the defender when Marco Silva strolled through the doors at Finch Farm this summer but the transformation in his game has been simply stunning this term.

The late goal-saving tackle on Dan Gosling summed up Keane's renaissance under Silva - and long may it continue as the defender Everton thought they were getting last summer finally makes a prolonged, consistent appearance.

With England manager Gareth Southgate watching on, the defender picked the perfect occasion to serve up one of his best offerings of the campaign.
