Former Premier League referee Keith Hackett has insisted Liverpool's late winner against Everton should not have been ruled out.

Ex Premier League referee and former Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Hackett believes that VAR shouldn't have disallowed the goal, which would have handed Liverpool all three points.

Still replays suggested that Sadio Mane was level with the Everton backline to the naked eye but VAR instead deemed the Liverpool attacker offside and thus, the goal was ruled out.

VAR was once again in the headline after Jordan Henderson's stoppage-time goal was ruled out of offside in the build-up.

"Personally, I think it was serious foul play and I think Pickford was a lucky player not to have been sent off for that particular challenge."

"The foul from Pickford is still relevant because even though the whistle may have gone, the game stopped, players are still accountable for their actions and the VAR will have looked at that to see if there was a point of serious foul play happening.

Then came Henderson's disallowed goal just before Richarlison was sent off as the match finished 2-2.
