Former Everton forward Tony Cottee has claimed that he doubts Dominic Calvert-Lewin has what it takes to take the Toffees into the top six.

Talking to talkSPORT (via HITC) on Wednesday morning, Cottee, who scored 72 goals in 184 league appearances for Everton, claimed that while DCL shows promise he doubts that he has that something extra needed to realise the club’s ambitions.

Will Calvert-Lewin score at least ten goals this season?

It think he has potential to get the goals Everton need to propel themselves up the league table, but for whatever reason he isn’t doing it on the pitch.

DCL has struggled to really get going this season, and has failed to score in all five of his appearances for Everton during the new campaign so far.

I’m a fan of what DCL has the ability to do for Everton, not what he is currently doing.

Cottee said: He’s a good player but I don’t know whether he’s going to get the goals to push the club into the top six.
