? Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that the club was aware of the potential of Harry Maguire during his time with both Everton and the Red Devils, but did not feel the need to sign him when he was with the latter.

When I went to United, we had [Nemanja] Vidic, Rio [Ferdinand], Jonny Evans, Michael Keane, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling so for us to go and buy another young centre-half wasn’t the biggest thing we needed at the time.” For United, however, they need Maguire to come good immediately as they are in for a very hard fight if they are to get back into the Champions League next season.

Harry Maguire was another one I recognised.

The Scottish coach said that he never got the opportunity to sign him up and also commented that he was curious to see how big Maguire would grow to be as he already had a big arse as a relatively young boy.

During his time there, he had the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic to call upon.

He played against Preston North End at home in a league game and I watched him and thought he played really well but at that time he was really big – he had a big arse.

Moyes lasted less than a season at United after he was given the unenviable task of succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at the club.
