Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Carlo Ancelotti stated that he is targeting European qualification and title challenges during his time in charge at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti has so far overseen the club’s rise from the threat of relegation to the cusp of European qualification since succeeding Marco Silva in December, with the Blues victorious in five of his eight league games at the helm.

The Toffees were sat just four points above the drop zone after Duncan Ferguson’s final match as interim head coach, but we now find ourselves in seventh place and only three points behind fifth-placed Sheffield United.

Only a further two points bridge the gap from fifth to fourth, too, with Chelsea holding the final Champions League place on 41 points after 25 games thanks to a run of one win in their last five matches.

Ancelotti does not want to stop his mission there, though, as he sees the club continuing on an upward trajectory during his time at Goodison Park.

“I see Everton [towards] the top of the table, fighting for some titles, fighting to be competitive in Europe,” the boss told EvertonTV. “And, hopefully, in the new stadium with all the crowd singing my song, this is the dream!”

Ancelotti signed a four-and-a-half-year contract when appointed in December and along with achieving success at the helm, is more than open to extending his time on Merseyside.

“I signed a four-and-a-half-year deal and I would like to finish my contract, to stay here, to do my best,” he added. “And after that, if there is a possibility to continue, I would like to stay more. The ambition and idea is to stay longer.”

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Ancelotti’s targets for his time in charge at Goodison Park…

In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit has questioned how a 23y/o ace can regain his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
