Former England international Danny Mills believes Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be set for a prolonged period on the bench as summer signing Moise Kean begins to break into the side.

Is Mills right?

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills said: “I think obviously his position will be taken by Moise Kean over the next whatever it will be, maybe after the international break as he starts to get into the team.

“I know he’s very, very young but you’re looking at him as the big summer signing to be the number nine on a regular basis.” Perhaps Mills is right considering the ex-England U21 international has just 11 goals in 89 games for Everton, whilst Kean netted the same amount for Juventus in just 45 appearances.

[WhoScored] Calvert-Lewin did also start the first three games of this season, but having been benched for the clash against Wolves, Mills believes now is the time that Kean could lead the line for Marco Silva’s side.

Kean was handed his first start for his new club in the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, which saw the former Juventus man earn a 7/10 for his tenacious performance (as told by the Liverpool Echo).

And, fans alike may be buzzing to see two youngsters battle it out for their side, just as 22-year-old Richarlison got the ball rolling on his season with two goals against Wolves.
