Jurgen Klopp has suggested the international break has forced him into the changes he has made ahead of the Merseyside Derby against Everton.

Everton will be looking to win their first Merseyside Derby in exactly ten years, while Liverpool will hope to continue their superb record in the fixture at Goodison Park.

The Reds have made four alterations from the team that was thumped 7-2 by Aston Villa last time out, with Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip coming in for Diogo Jota, Naby Keita, Georginio Wijnaldum and Joe Gomez.

"They are all significant (changes)," Klopp said when asked about his team.

Klopp also thinks people may be reading too much into the Villa game, and thinks there were positives to take despite the heavy defeat.

"Then we played a really bad game against Aston Villa.

The outside world said 'we did this wrong, we did that wrong', but the challenge is to keep the good things in our game because there were good things as well."
