Everton travelled to Craven Cottage looking for their fourth consecutive win on Saturday - but were instead surprised by Fulham.

The hosts had lost their previous nine matches, but managed to secure all three points over the Blues thanks to second half goals from tom Cairney and Ryan Babel.

"Silva may now be wondering which Everton side will turn up when Manchester United arrive at Goodison Park next weekend."

The Daily Mail and writer Kieran Gill claimed the Blues deserved absolutely nothing from the match after what was a lacklustre performance from the visitors.

He remarked: "In a match which Everton, based on recent form, might have been favourites to win, they were in the event thoroughly well beaten by a Fulham team potent in midfield, solid in defence and frequently penetrative in attack.

"Everton were always second best, and never recovered once Cairney put Fulham ahead 90 seconds into the second half."

He wrote: "Everton deserved what they got – distinctly nothing – as Tom Cairney and Ryan Babel scored the goals which put a dent in their charge for the top seven.
