Trent Alexander-Arnold insists Liverpool are yet to reach top gear this season.
“We wanted to win it so much and the fans wanted us to win it so much, but we couldn’t do it.
And to show how high Liverpool’s standards are, Alexander-Arnold admits his teammates were disappointed by their superb 3-1 win over City last month as they conceded a late consolation goal.
“Last season City won the last 14 or 15 games on the bounce and they can do it again, can’t they?
The Reds are unbeaten in the Premier League so far, winning 13 of their opening 14 games and could go 11 points clear of Man City if they beat arch rivals Everton on Wednesday night.
“The City game was excellent but even then we were disappointed that we conceded.
“Yeah, we are nowhere near 100 per cent,” he told the Daily Mail.
