Marcel Brands has backed Marco Silva to improve the clutch of young players Everton signed this summer.

The Blues added teenage striker Moise Kean and 23-year-old's Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Alex Iwboi to the squad before the transfer window shut last week.

Marcel Brands has spoken exclusively to evertontv about the summer transfer window – and revealed the untold stories around every signing the Club made in advance of 2019/20.

Brands says he is "very happy" to work with Silva and is confident the Portuguese coach will help Kean, Gbamin and Iwobi realise their potential at Goodison.

The director of football says it is his job to keep hold of the purse strings and though it's natural for a manager to push for more signings or experienced names he is sure that Silva will see the club's strategy of investing in younger players bears fruit.

"The most important thing with me and Marco, is Marco is a coach who can make the players better.

"I am very happy to work with Marco.
