Callum Connolly has not featured for Everton since 2016, but the young midfielder is falling back in love with the game while on loan with Bolton, and earning the praise of Phil Parkinson.

In his only game for Everton, Connolly featured as a second-half substitute filling in for Seamus Coleman against Southampton, and later spent time away from Goodison Park with Ipswich and Wigan, but a second stint with the Latics this term did not see the midfielder fair as well.

The Wanderers boss spoke to the official club website following the 21-year-old netting his first goal for them during an away win over Birmingham City on Tuesday.

His desire to affect the outcome of games could come in handy at Goodison Park at present, and is something Parkinson has already taken note of.

“They are the dividing lines that turn a draw into a win.”

“I was pleased with the goal, because it typified the win really,” said Parkinson.
