Everton are reportedly in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk’s chief scout, Joso Boto, as an attempt to reshuffle the club’s player recruitment staff.

This comes from Tutto Mercato via Inside Futbol, with the Italian outlet claiming that the Toffees are eager to change their approach to signing new players and that Boto, who has only been at Shakhtar for a year since joining from Benfica in 2018, is a name that Everton are interested in.

With Boto spending 10 years with the Portuguese giants, during which Benfica raked in nearly £500m in profit from player sales as numbers from Transfermarkt show, Everton are seemingly going in big on their reshuffle on the player recruitment side of the club, and the Shakhtar chief scout seems like a perfect candidate to pursue.

As well as enjoying plenty of success at Benfica, Boto is a player renowned for his approach at scouting players, with the 52-year-old footballing mastermind admitting in an interview with Tribuna Expresso that he sees the game differently than most scouts, and that has benefitted him in finding the right players for the clubs he has worked for.

The potential appointment of Boto at Everton could be yet another decisive decision the club make away from the pitch.

The Toffees have already seen the impressive negotiation power of Michel Brands following his arrival on Merseyside last year, which has seen the likes of Richarlison, Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi sign for Everton.

The combination of Brands and Boto could be one that places Everton ahead of many Premier League sides in terms of bringing in new signings, and if matters on the pitch can begin to turn around with Marco Silva under increasing pressure following a rough start to the season, the Toffees could seemingly become the European challenging club that many fans expected them to be at by now.
