According to Argentinean outlet Ole, Everton are interested in Santiago Sosa, but a potential move to Goodison Park could be hampered by work permit complications.

The midfielder has a release clause of £13m which shouldn’t be a problem for Everton, but there’s been no agreement between the two sides yet.

And while attaining a work permit could be difficult, Ole believe Everton could make a special exception case to procure the midfielder’s signature like they did with Ramiro Funes Mori.

The 20-year-old has represented Argentina at u20 level on nine occasions, but he’s not an established player at senior level for club or country.

The Toffees may need to strengthen their midfield this summer if they fail to sign Andre Gomes on a permanent deal and sell Idrissa Gueye, but Sosa is one for the future.

Sosa has made five appearances for Club Atlético River Plate, the last of which came against Tigre on April 7, and he’s believed to have a bright future with Los Millonarios.

Marcel Brands wants Everton to build a younger squad for future seasons, so Sosa could be one of many promising talents brought in.
