Report: Striker ‘will leave’ Everton, 30 y/o is ‘out of contract’ this summer

According to The Athletic, Oumar Niasse ‘will leave’ Everton this summer. The 30-year-old is ‘out of contract’ in the coming months and looks unlikely to be handed a deal as he’s been out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti.

Niasse is on the periphery at Everton and has been limited to just a handful of appearances this season, so an exit from Goodison Park has been on the cards for some time.

The Senegalese international joined Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016 and has gone on to make 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and making four assists.

Niasse made 33 appearances in his first two seasons at Goodison but managed only 10 appearances in the last two campaigns. His last Everton goal also came two years ago.

The 30-year-old has fallen behind Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order, so Niasse doesn’t stand a chance of being handed a new deal. He earns £2.86m-a-year at Everton and hasn’t scored since May 2018, so why would the Toffees keep him?

Unfortunately, Everton won’t make back any of the £16.1m spent on Niasse four years ago, but his departure will at least save the club money in wages.
