Everton striker Richarlison has signed a new contract after agreeing terms on a five-year deal.

Marcel Brands, director of football at Everton, announced on Friday talks were advanced on extending the Brazilian’s current agreement until 2024.

The 22-year-old joined from Watford 18 months ago and has proved to be one of the more successful recruits in a difficult period of Everton history.

Since moving to Merseyside for £40 million he has broken into the Brazil national team and become the most potent and regular goal threat for Silva.

The coach will need to see more of the same in his latest career-defining fixture, Everton making the short journey to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night with Silva’s position under review on a game-to-game basis.
