Everton secured their first away win since March to ease the pressure on manager Marco Silva ahead of the international break.

Having dominated the first half, Everton were pegged back by a resilient Southampton in the second half but found a winner through Richarlison to lift them into 13th place.

It means that Ralph Hasenhuttl has still not won a home game this season and his team now look likely to be embroiled in a relegation battle for the third season running.

As Southampton supporters nervously took their seats as St Mary’s, they found them draped with a club scarf.

The Saints are still making reparations for the historic defeat last time they played at home, against Leicester City.

As nice a gesture as that was, ahead of kick-off, their appeared to be little reason for optimism for the Saints faithful.
