Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says he was "convinced" about signing Everton striker Cenk Tosun by the club's sporting director.

"The credit for Cenk Tosun should go to Doug,' Hodsgon told reporters at the Etihad.

Everton have yet to confirm or deny reports that the striker's move to Palace comes with a £1m loan fee, sees the Eagles pay all of his wages and that a clause in the agreement allows them to buy Tosun for £20m at the end of the season.

Tosun would come off the bench and score in a 3-0 win that day.

Tosun scored on his first start for Palace yesterday, opening the scoring against Manchester City, and Hodgson is thrilled Freedman persisted with the player.

"He has watched him a lot and when we had the chance to sign him on loan he really convinced me, because I hadn't seen that much of Cenk.

Everton signed the Turkey international in January 2018 but following the sacking of Sam Allardyce, Tosun has fallen down the pecking order.
