Marco Silva invested in players heavily over the summer transfer window.

If Everton did have a striker that Silva favours, Bernard may not be starting at all given that The Toffees best winger, Richarlison, often starts up front as he is their most potent attacking threat.

As well as Bernard, Lookman netted in the FA Cup last weekend, displaying a very promising and forward-thinking performance, so in order for the Brazillian to keep his place, he will have to step up his game.

If not, Bernard could face some time on the bench with Lookman eager for more opportunities and the possibility of a new forward coming to Goodison Park.

Everton forked out large fees for Richarlison, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne especially, bringing in Kurt Zouma and Andre Gomes on loan deals.

Bernard most frequently starts out on the wing, having made 20 appearances there this season, scoring once assisting four goals in the process, with the vast majority coming from the left.

With reports from Sky Sports that Everton could bring in Michy Batshuayi to solve their lack of a traditional number nine, that means Richarlison could revert to his best position out wide, leaving Theo Wallcot and Bernard to fight it out for the right-winger role.
