Marco Silva has confirmed handed three youngsters from the academy the opportunity to train with the first team, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Anthony Gordon, Dennis Adeniran and Lewis Gibson have all linked up with the first team, with one of the former two likely to be named in the match-day squad against Watford with midfield options short.

At 18-years old, Gordon is clearly a talented and promising player and both Silva and Unsworth clearly rate him highly.

Silva has always shown that there is a direct avenue for youngsters to progress into the first-team if they apply themselves well and continue their development away from his squad.

Unsworth spoke after the Premier League 2 season opener and explained how it was important to give Gordon minutes after he spent time training with Silva’s squad.

With the Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph injured, and with Morgan Schneiderlin suspended, Silva could potentially look to integrate Gordon or Adeniran into the first-team this weekend ahead of either of the duo potentially making their Premier League debut for the club.

18-year-old Gordon was one of Unsworth’s key players during their Premier League 2 title victory last season, appearing for the young Toffees 14 times.
