BT Sport co-commentator Steve McManaman says he cannot understand how Jordan Pickford was not sent off for his horror tackle on Virgil van Dijk in the early stages of Everton's game against Liverpool.

Van Dijk was adjudged to be offside but VAR still looked at the decision and decided not to penalise Pickford.



"The challenge here on the Van Dijk injury...



Van Dijk, however, had to be replaced by Joe Gomez as he was injured from the incident, and McManaman thinks Pickford was lucky to get away without punishment.

McManaman wasn't the only person baffled by the decision not to sent Pickford off.

Ridiculous he wasn't sent off."

I'm very surprised because he could have easily been sent off for this challenge," McManaman said.
