Kurt Zouma has revealed how Marco Silva asked him to score in the build-up to Sunday’s win over Bournemouth.

Zouma, 24, opened the scoring at Goodison Park on Sunday and and produced a commanding defensive display at the other end of the field to maintain Everton’s clean sheet.

“We had a clean sheet.

I’m obviously really glad to score my first goal for Everton and that give us the win so I’m very happy with that.

And after scoring his first Premier League goal for the Toffees he revealed that his celebration - which included running to the home dugout - was motivated by his manager’s wish to see him score.

“I ran to the manager because yesterday he asked me to score today and he said: ‘How many you scored last year?’.

"But luckily Kurt put it away in the second half and it gave us the boost we needed at the right time and it was a huge goal, it settled us down and gave us something to hold onto it.” Equally as pleased with a clean sheet the former Manchester United defender also held special praise for teammate Ademola Lookman.
