Everton

It’s been a terrible start to the season for Everton, but fans refuse to turn on certain members of the backroom staff, especially former cult hero Duncan Ferguson.

Yes No

Ferguson, who racked up over 250 appearances for the Toffees over his playing career, has been climbing up the coaching ranks at Goodison Park for the last several years.

Starting out developing youngsters at Everton’s academy Finch Farm, Ferguson soon found his way to the senior team dugout where he is currently one of Marco Silva’s assistant coaches.

Now, with the club’s form on the decline despite major summer investment (as shown on Transfermarkt), some fans have been pointing towards the manager as a likely cause for the club’s woes.

But given Ferguson’s status with the Toffees, a lot of supporters are hesitant to point the finger at him and want the Scotsman to stay on as a coach no matter what happens.

Here’s what a few Everton fans had to say on Twitter:

He doesn’t pick team or decide tactics helps the strikers we dont score enough but is that down to him? Kean just joined and will anyone turn dcl into a goalscorer (experience may help that ) let’s face it cant makes silk purse out of a pig’s ear tosun and niasse wont improve

One of the few who still shows passion for the club. Does not seem too much of that on display at this moment in time, oh and why are we pointing the finger at the big man…. not good

The problem, not him and the strikers at the club and past say he is an excellent coach twitter is just full of moaners who will never be happy we could win ten nil and only thing mentioned will be the two shots we missed
