Erin Cuthbert celebrates scoring against Arsenal

Manchester City moved to the top of the Women's Super League table after beating West Ham while previous leaders Arsenal slumped to defeat at in-form Chelsea.

Two goals from Erin Cuthbert helped defending champions Chelsea beat the former table-toppers 2-1 and claim their 11th successive win in all competitions.

Cuthbert gave Chelsea the lead when she rose above her marker to head past the diving Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.

The Scotland midfielder doubled the advantage with a powerful volleyed finish and although Vivianne Miedema pulled a goal back for Arsenal with a clever back-heel, Chelsea held on for a win that lifts them to within two points of their London rivals.

Manchester City took full advantage of Arsenal's second defeat of the season to go top with a 3-1 win at West Ham.

Caroline Weir opened the scoring for Man City, slotting cleverly into the corner, before Lauren Hemp doubled their lead.

Captain Gilly Flaherty kept West Ham in the game with a goal-line clearance to deny Man City their third and minutes later Jane Ross netted to make it 2-1.

The hosts could not find an equaliser though and Man City wrapped up the points with a third goal in the final stages when Nikita Parris turned home a cross.

Marc Skinner lost his final match in charge of Birmingham City after his side were beaten 1-0 at home by Bristol City.

Gemma Evans' header decided the contest to make it losing farewell for Skinner, who is reportedly set to take charge of US side Orlando Pride.

Liverpool claimed all three points against Yeovil after Courtney Sweetman-Kirk scored her second of the game in the third minute of stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win.

Sweetman-Kirk gave Liverpool the lead from the penalty spot but last-placed Yeovil drew level at the start of the second half through Emily Donovan and looked set to claim a point until Sweetman-Kirk's late winner.

Elsewhere, fellow strugglers Brighton and Everton battled to a goalless draw at Broadfield Stadium.
